Week Four of Internships

Hello world.
This was my last week of internship, right now I sit before a computer missing my internship. I have done a lot I believe in the past month, I think perhaps I understood what normal people go through and I believe I learned just a little bit more about the world. My last week was extremely rushed in my opinion but still it was a lot of fun, I always felt as if I was working in some type of forest but without the animals that inhabit them. In my last week I worked on a order by myself for one of Mario Batali's restaurants in Hollywood, last year he ordered edible walls for his restaurant, but this year he ordered an wall for ornamental plants (indoor plants). So I ended up working on all of last week, in my opinion I thought it was awesome because I got to do something for a chef that I have great respect for.
Well that's all for this week thanks for reading.

Week Three of Internships

Hello world it's me again, if you don't know or don't remember my school is making me go to internships for this month...well 'making' is a bit forceful but its a school requirement so I hope you get that I'm not being mean I'm just saying its an academic requirement.
Anyway before I go on my rants like I always do I have to tell you about my week, its been awesome. Well if I haven't told you before I work for Good Earth Plants and this week I've been helping set up for the fair that's coming up next week in San Diego and that's the Del Mar Fair. I was really surprised to find tickets on my desk when I came back from working over at the site where our display would be at, but it made me smile. You know a lot of my friends are complaining here and there because of work I can understand because some jobs involve doing the same thing over and over day by day, hour by hour. Usually I don't know how to respond to that because well my job is pretty much everywhere everyday I end up doing something new and that doesn't bore me so I'm really glad that I work there. Well that's all I have to say for today.
Tune in next time.

Week two Friday Blog

This week was extremely busy mostly because of the install we had to do for Enxco, in my last post I mentioned that we took away their plants but that was because they're moving into a new building so we're prepping them again to suit the theme of thier company, windmills & solar panels. So all week all we've been doing was prepping the pots for Enxco which gave me cuts and bruises and I really didnt like the fact that I couldn't do my planned internship project. Instead I get to do something more epic I get to design and create a living wall for Mario Batali's restaurant, which in my opinion I think is just awesome cause I see Iron Chef whenever I can and I just can't believe that I get to create something for one of the Iron Chef's Restaurants. I really hope I don't mess up, well that's all I got to talk about today.
I'll see you all next week!!
Thanks for reading ^_^

Week one Friday Blog

I never want to see prune and train another fern again I had to cut about fifty of them this week and really it tired me out, but at least I get to sleep really well because of my work place. I'll admit every now and then it's a bit of a bore because of routine but the one thing I like about my workplace is that there is never a constant routine everyday it changes and I love the variety. For instance I pull weeds work in the office but lately this week I've been working in the back helping with prepping installs for companies. For instance this Thursday Joel, my coworker, and I went to this small bank called Beal Bank to install a couple plants I thought it was spectacular because when we came in with the plants the workers there lit up because we brought in a little bit of green in their lives. But the thing that made me a bit sad is when we took away the plants away from Enxco mostly because this one woman was all sad because we took them away. Overall I had a pretty good week it had its ups and downs but it was an awesome week.
Well I'll talk to you all later.

Internships Immersion

Hello readers its been a while since I've posted something on any of my blogs which makes me kinda sad but I've been extremely busy. Well here's something that's been happening at my shool recently and that is internships. So our school sends off our juniors to internships because it's part of the schools curriculum this internship is to teach us about the working world plus extra benefits but of course it depends on where we're working at. Our first day for all of us was last thursday and that was called Immersion day on this day we would all go to our workplaces around San Diego and basically preview what we're going to work and how we're going to work.
My Internship takes place at Good Earth Plant Company and my first day there was basically a slow day I almost fell asleep while researching about green roof projects that have been placed around San Diego and I thought that was pretty cool because there were a lot of projects done in San Diego that I've never heard about. Unfortunately I still felt drowsy even after finding about all these fabulous projects, I guess I'm not much of an office person. Besides my problem of trying to keep myself awake at work on the first day at work I felt very comfortable my mentor tried her best to keep me entertained by making me do other stuff because she noticed that I had a boring face on. In a way I felt slightly embarrassed cause I felt as if I was being slightly rude towards my workplace but she didn't seem to mind instead she seemed to understand so she asked me to do something else for her so we went on the roof and told me that this will be a small mini project I can work on and that's would be to grid the plants that are now on the roof and compare them to an old grid that was made two years ago. With this new activity I ended up having a lot of fun because I learned how to identify certain plants on the roof. Now I know this is just a summary of my day and I'm sorry that I kinda ranted for a bit but I'm just really excited about this internship because I'm having a lot of fun.
Well I'll write to you all later,
Sincerely, Andres

Class Blog U.S. Nuetral during WW1?

Was the United States practicing neutrality in the events leading to World War II?
Personally when presented to the facts I honestly think that the U.S. wanted nothing to do with the war except of course with the profit that was being made to the war. I dont really think that it was much of a practice of neutrality but a practice of greed. Of course that is not what the public was blinded with, many people thought it really was America Practicing Neutrality but I think it was simply all about business. Which in many ways make sense why would America go into a war that has nothing to do with them, why would they travel across the Atlantic just to go to war? Perhaps the only actual reason would be to boost their economy to make more money from death. Is this selfish? In many ways I think it is, but the problem of all countries is to have the money to support their people.

Get "Over There"

Throughout history there has been one object, one simple beat, one simple slap of the hips and hands that have moved every soul, and that is music. Music has always played throughout history and has moved men and women, though music can be used in many ways one way is propaganda. And in all Honesty I believe the song "Over There" by George M. Cohan was perhaps one great example of music being used as propaganda. One may ask the question on how it was even though it was not intended, well the answer lies in the lyrics take into account the words such as
"Make your mother proud of you,
And the old Red, White and Blue."
I can say of course that perhaps in that time most treated it as a just a tune that others could use to help them understand what an American is going through but in a more comedic way. Though there are of course the majority who saw this song as a calling, a calling to go to war and fight as a Yank, to be a proud Yank and fight those Germans. I can not though really say that perhaps George intended to use this song to boost morale for war. Critics called it the marching song for war and perhaps that was the intention but I can not say with certainty that that was what he intended.
